Johnny Depp’s Daughter Lands Her First Role

It was revealed on Tuesday that Lily-Rose Depp has started to follow in her father’s footsteps, landing a starring role playing opposite none other than her father, Johnny Depp. The famous Hollywood actor has largely kept his 15-year-old daughter out of the public eye, but the budding actress is now on her way to take over the world! Or Hollywood, at least.

Lily-Rose has been cast in the lead role of cult director Kevin Smith’s new film “Yoga Hosers” and she is not the only celebrity spawn to be starring in the so-called comic book movie.

Smith is most well-known for his iconic Nineties slacker movies, including ”Clerks” and “Mallrats.” He has cast Harley Quinn Smith, his own daughter, also 15, to play Lily-Rose’s co-lead.

The two teenagers are reportedly friends from school and on-screen will play Canadian yoga enthusiasts who work together in an after-school job at a convenience store and are both called Colleen. When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada’s crust and threatens their big invitation to a Grade 12 party, the Colleens join forces with a legendary man-hunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe (Johnny Depp) to fight for their lives.

This is not Lily-Rose’s first onscreen appearance, she along with Harley, had cameos in Kevin’s previous film “Tusks”, and their characters are spin-offs from that. Johnny also had a brief appearance in the film, which stars Justin Long, and premieres next month at the Toronto Film Festival.

Smith recently spoke about the movie. He said that people always ask him if he is ever going to make a comic book movie: “This is it – but instead of yet another dude saving the day, our antiheroes are the most feared and formidable creatures man has ever encountered: two 15-year-old girls.”

“Yoga Hosers” is set to start filming this week and is likely to be released in June 2015. We will see how the young actress-in-the-making will handle her first big gig, and we hope that she’s got some of her father’s good acting genes and talent.
