Michelle Heaton Goes Conservative Chic In Pink For The Christening Of Her Son

April 22, 2014

After a terrifying experience with her newborn son’s meningitis, Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton and family got to take some much-needed fun time. Heaton’s son, Aaron Jay, known as “AJ,” was christened at Ballyroan Church in Dublin. The whole family dressed to the nines for the occasion, including Heaton’s husband, personal trainer Hugh Hanley, and their two-year-old daughter, Faith.

A parent’s worst nightmare

Just a few weeks ago, Heaton and Hanley received devastating news. Five-week-old AJ had been diagnosed with viral meningitis and needed to be hospitalized. Meningitis presents itself with flu-like symptoms, but can be fatal if left untreated for too long.

Luckily for AJ, some time in the hospital with fluids and antibiotics helped him to recover swiftly. Still, Heaton remarked that the experience was the worst and scariest moment of her life. In a way, AJ is Heaton’s miracle baby. He was born after her double mastectomy when she learned she carries a gene for breast cancer.

Life redeemed

After AJ was given the all clear to leave the hospital, the family began making preparations for his christening ceremony. Family and close friends congregated at Ballyroan Church where Faith was also baptized.

AJ, decked out in the traditional christening gown with a white cardigan to block out the chill, presented quite the difficulty when it time came to get him into his car seat. Still, he put on a brave face for the proceedings.

Beautiful day, beautiful dress

Heaton donned a conservative blush pink dress and nude heels. The caramel highlights in her dark brown hair glinted in the sunlight, adding a stylish, yet elegant flair. Hanley, perhaps to avoid attracting too much attention, chose a simple charcoal suit. And, no one could say that little Faith was left out. The toddler looked a picture in her pale tulle dress with matching shoes and a thick, white overcoat.

After the horrifying scare Heaton faced with her son’s illness, the family deserves some good news. However, although little AJ is relaxing at home in the loving arms of his parents, doctors are still unsure about the long-term effects of the viral meningitis. Meantime, Heaton, Hanley and family plan to enjoy life as they have it and hope for good luck in the future.
